Top 7 android apps on Dr. Ambedkar, Dalits and Indian Buddhists

Few days back, I write on 15 books that every Dalits must read, in this post I will be listing top 7 android apps on Dr. Ambedkar, Dalits and Indian Buddhists that every Dalit-Bahujans should have on mobile!

Rise of technology has given us great opportunities to come closer to each other and fight together against the injustice and fight against the crimes committed against Dalits. I have noticed many young people very much active on social networking sites but it saddens me sometimes to see that they are busy in spreading and posting things which are not related to our mission or things which have no meaning!

As, whatsapp, facebook etc on mobiles have become popular, many android apps on Dr. Ambedkar, Dalits and Buddhism have come up. Here is the list of android apps, what I think are worth trying.

Dr. B.R.Ambedkar – You can get Quotes of Dr. Ambedkar, 22 vows, important events in life of Dr. Ambedkar, and few books written by Dr. Ambedkar
Amritbani Satguru Ravidass Ji – Amritbani Guru Ravidass Ji is a holy book of the Ravidassia Religion. It is in Punjabi and it has teachings (Gurbani) of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji.
Buddha’s Life Changing Lessons – It has only 20 pictures with messages of Buddha, There are 20 lessons to changing your mind, your mood and your habits that will, in turn, change your entire life. I like the app because pictures are just wow!
Lord Buddha TV – Live streaming of Lord Buddha TV channel.
Bahujan Samaj Party – Information about Bahujan Samaj Party.
Dr. Ambedkar Quiz – App has good questions, though I struggled to find out the correct answers in the app as app doesn’t show answers!
Ambedkar and Buddhism – It is a scanned book by Sangharakshita and worth reading.

There are many other apps on Dr. Ambedkar and Buddhism and there are some apps where you can read books written by Babasaheb also. I still believe there is need of more mobile apps as I couldn’t find any app on Saheb Kanshi Ram, Guru Kabir, Guru Tukaram etc, many more apps can be created on all these Dalit-Bahujans ideals.

Connection of Fatehgarh Sahib district (Punjab) with Buddhism

Sanghol Village in Fatehgarh Sahib district (Punjab) has connection with Buddhism as it yielded a 1st century Buddhist stupa enshrining the bone relics of an important Buddhist teacher and a monastery complex. Few votive stupas are put around this main stupa to secure the relics.

In the present day Punjab, Hiuen Tsang, the celebrated Chinese Pilgrim, who was in India for 14 years from 630 AD to 643 AD, visited three cities- Chinapatti, Jalandhara and Satadru or Sanghol. Out of three places described by Hiuen Tsang, only Satadru or Sanghol has been discovered and excavated in Modern Punjab.

Satadru or Sanghol is 65 Kms by road from Ludhiana of Punjab and 40 Km from Chandigarh on the Ludhiana – Chandigarh road. Sanghol is 16 Km by road from Sirhind railway station.

The most important monument unearthed at Sanghol by the experts of the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Punjab is the Stupa and the monastery complex. The Stupa, which appears to have been first built by Ashoka in 3^rd century B.C., is on the pattern of Dhamma Chakra (Wheel of Law). The cylindrical stupa is of 16 metre diameter on a 17 metres square platoform-the pradakashina or circumambulation of the stupa raised at height. There is also a surkhi or murrampathway about 5.34 m in width all around the stupa. The the east is a paved pathway along which anumber of votive Stupas of slokd mud were eracted by the devoteed.

From the central portion of the Stupa were recovered a tooth, ashes and some bones as also the bottom portion of a relic casket-most probably the body relics of the Buddha. The excavation also yields a lid with a Kharosthi legend of 1^st -2^ndcentury B.C. Upasaka Ayabhadra mentioned in the legend may have been responsible for enshrining the relics in the stupa.

The priceless find at Sanghol, which has put it prominently on the archaeological map ofIndia, is the discovery of 117 sculptures of the Kushana period from the railing around the stupa on the square platform. These railing pillars were found in a pit between the monastery and the stupa on Febuary 2, 1985. The valuable parts of the railing include a corner pillars, 58 upright pillars, 7 double sided pillars, 35 cross bars and 13 coping stones.

Of the four corner pillars, one is with Dhamma-Chakradvaja, two withSimbadhvaja and the last with stupa and devotees. The upright pillars have beautiful carvings of Yakshis, an Upasaka (a lay devotee), a Chakravartin (a royal devotee). The coping stones mounted on the railing pillars are decorated with a series of arched windows containing Buddhist symbols like dhamachakra, lotus, worship of the relic casket, worship of Buddha’s bowl and other auspicious symbols. The cross bars which join the two pillars are decorated with lotus medallions. The Sanghol sculptures are considered as the best specimen of the Buddhist art of 2^nd Century A.D.

During the excavations in the adjoining areas, a broken portion of stone from a gateway of stupa, depicting Jataka stories, in redstrone, was also recovered. Coins of all the kings of KushanaÂ dnasty and also seals and sealing in Kharoshti and Brahmi scripts have been discovered. A large citadel with internal and external moats has also been unearthed. The monetary is yet to be fully excavated.

Behan Mayawati paid tribute to Lord Buddha on Buddha Purnima

On the eve (Sunday, 3rd May, 2015) of Buddha Purnima Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Behan Mayawati paid tribute to Lord Buddha and said Lord Buddha worked for the casteless society and his teachings are still valid.

It must be remembered here that it was not the first instance that Behan Mayawati has remembered Lord Buddha. She has been working continuously on the ideas of Lord Buddha and has played a vital role in the establishment of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida. During Behan Mayawati’s government, she made many memorials and educational institutes on the name of Lord Buddha. such as Gautam Buddha University.

Apart from that no-one can forget Behan Mayawati’s role in the creation of Dalit-bahujans history eg. Dr. Ambedkar Park at Lucknow. If we want to make India Buddha-may, we need BSP in power, so I request everyone to support BSP and it’s activities. Only when we will have power and we will have our own government we can do anything for our icons and our ideals.

Buddha Jayanti and its political significance – Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

There is no need to tell that Indians love festivals. They spend half of the year in festivity and religious rites. They also give great importance to celebration of birth and death anniversaries of great people. The celebration of Krishnajanmastami, Ramanavami and Hanuman Jayanti are testimony to these mental attitudes of the Hindus. It will surprise the foreigners that Indians do not celebrate the Buddha Jayanti in the same spirit though the Indians are fond of such celebrations. Of all the great people born in India, the status of the Buddha is the highest. The followers of the Buddha regard Him as the great Sun who illuminated this world. Christians, though envious they are of the Buddha, compare Buddha with the Light of Asia. Hindus also regard the Buddha as the tenth incarnation of Vishnu. This famous person was buried in the memories and Indians do not remember him at all. There are many people who will know the name of Bajirao’s harlot, Mastani. But I guess that the numbers of people who are familiar with the name of the Buddha are far less than this. This famous person has been forgotten to this extent is a matter of great shame and surprise. In this situation, it is a matter of joy that in Bengal and other provinces the celebration of the Buddha Jayanti has been started. This is very praiseworthy. But we think that this event has a great political significance. Therefore in order to make people aware of this significance we have planned to introduce people the importance of the life and mission of the Buddha.

Before 2500 years, King Suddhodhan of Sakya clan was ruling Kapilvastu. The name of the family was Gautama. Kapilvastu was located in what is now called United Province. It was located between Shravasti and Ayodhya and 50 miles east of Faizabad. Suddhodhan had two wives. One of them was Mayadevi and another was Prajapati. After marriage of Suddhodhan and Mayadevi, Mayadevi conceived after some days. According to social tradition, the first delivery was to be carried out in her maternal home and therefore her father Subuddha sent a message to his son in law for sending Mayadevi. Therefore Mayadevi and her sister Prajapati left for her maternal house with retinue. On the way they halted in Lumbini forest. On that place Mayadevi underwent labour of birth of a child and she gave birth to a boy in that forest. After giving birth to the boy, Mayadevi died in a very short time. The boy was nurtured by Mayadevi’s sister Prajapati. The boy was named as Siddhartha. Later on he became famous as the Gautama Buddha.

Why aren’t the hindus offended?

Casteism is a backbone of the hindu religion. Hinduism is full of discrimination, casteism and degradation, without all of these there is no hindu religion. Recently, the so called hindus forced Penguin India publishing house to withdraw The Hindu – An Alternative History book by Wendy Doniger on the argument that this book offend hindus. Hindus had earlier defended Salman Rushdie’s book Satanic Verses in the name of ‘freedom of expression’ and ‘freedom of speech’ or what not but didn’t accept the book by Wendy on the same logic! Ironic but true face of Hinduism and so called hindus. Here, in this post, I want to ask, why so called hindus are not offended when so many atrocities happen on Dalits in day to day life? According to a UN report, approximately 110,000 cases of violent acts committed against Dalits were reported in 2005.

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit students are purified by sprinkling cow urine on them in schools?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit women are seen and treated as only sex objects?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit people are killed just because they had same name as some upper caste people had?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit homes are separated by building walls in villages?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalits have to remove their shoes while passing in front of upper caste homes?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit students’ scholarships aren’t issued on time?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit homes are burnt daily, just because they are Dalit?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when food cooked by Dalit women isn’t accepted by so called upper caste students?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit kids are made to sit separately in schools?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit women are paraded naked, raped and forced to commit suicide?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalits are offered menial jobs and exploited at workplaces?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit students seats at colleges are filled by upper castes having fake Dalit certificates?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit students seats in colleges are left unfilled?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalits are not allowed to enter temples?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when there are separate barber shops for Dalits?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalit and Muslim are kept in jails for years without any crime?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when their own shankracharyas are caught for the involvement in rapes, murders and killings?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when they see there are still thousands of devidasis (temple prostitutes) in India?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when Dalits are forced to work as manual scavengers?

Why aren’t the hindus offended when statues of Dalit leaders are maligned or destroyed?

Why didn’t the hindus get offend when 21 Dalits were slaughtered by the Ranvir Sena in Bathani Tola, Bhojpur in Bihar?

Will Sikh Leaders install Hindu Gods in the Golden Temple?

The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history, Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. The world around it will forget even faster. The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting. – Milan Kundera.

In the month June 2012, the Government of Punjab announced that it will set up a ‘cow memorial‘ at a factory site in Joga town, Mansa District, where recovery of cow carcasses had sparked off riots. And a day after announcing a ‘cow memorial’, the Badal Government further announced it will constitute a ‘cow commission‘ to ‘prevent cruelties against the holy animal’. Mr. Badal even made a visit to the factory where cow slaughter was supposedly taking place and instructed the DGP to look into the cases of cow slaughter with interest and thoroughly. Mr. Badal and his party members didn’t even have the time to pay a visit to the blanket factory at Jalandhar which collapsed in April 2012 and which left more than 10 people dead and 100s badly injured. Not even a single statement came in favor of dead or injured in the one of worst factory accidents of Punjab’s history. Was it because people working at that factory were poor and their lives were not as important as the lives of cows? And recently, when a madman at a Wisconsin Sikh Gurdwara killed 6 people, Mr. Badal, CM of Punjab, decided to visit Wisconsin! Isn’t it strange that when in his home state, thousands Dalits are being tortured and when the crime rate against Dalits is going up day by day, he decided to visit Wisconsin to comfort Sikhs of Wisconsin? Is it because these people living abroad finance him and support his party during the election time and the poor Dalits don’t have as much money to donate? So Dalit voices are left unheard.

All these announcements didn’t come to me as surprise as I know who are working behind all these. For centuries, Hindu fundamentalists have always taken a keen interest in destroying Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism. RSS’s ‘secret agenda‘, (published by “New Age” weekly of Communist Party, dated 18th-24th June 2000, same was also reproduced by Aajka Surekh Bharat, Nagpur, Oct. 2000, P-44,) shows the same, ‘secret agenda’ in which it was advocated to members that they “teach false history, misguide minority communities, compel them to chant ‘Om’, divide Dalit unity, keep converting Dalits, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists into Hindus etc. There were 34 such points in that ‘secret agenda’, points which were against humanity, mankind & full of hatred. These days, Sikh organizations, Sikh temples etc are hijacked by Hindu fundamentalists and they are running these organizations as they want. Sikh leaders can be seen at Hindu functions, celebrating Hindu festivals, visiting Hindu temples and performing Hindu pujas. How can Dalits, who protected Sikhism at each and every step, trust such Sikh leaders who attend such Hindu functions where Sikhism is being ruined?
